A Dream of War

I dreamed last night about a place
Where Leadership was True.
The kind that’s ne’r before been seen
By such as me and you.
I dreamed there was a world wherein
All governments had wrought
A law defining why and how
A state of war was brought.
So for a Nation’s soldiers to
Be sent to fight and die,
Its Leaders held a solemn vote —
One count beyond a tie.
A vote for war was simple for
When call to cast was read,
You’d simply take your pistol out
And shoot it through your head.
Though times there are war must be fought,
Might this deplete its ills —
That they who crave it most would be
The first of those it kills.
