The Trying, the Failing, and the Doing
Posted By Randy on May 11, 2013
Few things are more weakening to a culture than raising its children to believe that “trying your best” and failing can ever mark the end of accomplishment. Teaching that failure is a black mark on your soul. That it’s always best to play safe in all things.
Bullshit. If you’re worth knowing, you’ve fallen off your Horse, and if you’re really worth knowing, more than once. Get back on, and accept that some lessons leave scars.
This poem is written from a male perspective, but it’s just as applicable to the female. In Truth then, this is for everybody, and should be read, as the lawyers say, with all appropriate understanding as to numbers and gender.
The Trying, the Failing, and the Doing
By LFM
One “tries” to test a theory,
One can “try” a different trail.
But he who says, “I tried my best,”
Then quits, does nought but fail.
He fails the task, he fails himself,
His Comrades and his Clan.
A self excusing quitter
Masquerading as a Man.
For a thing that’s worth the doing,
Is a thing that’s worth the fray,
So pick your battles well my boy,
Stay on and win the Day!
Mouth full of mud, eyes full of blood,
That one who puts things right,
Is he, if failing kills him not,
Who brings the dark to light!
Trying’s no excuse to quit.
Trying’s just a tool.
And anyone who thinks it else
Is doomed to stay a fool.
Well spoken
