Every Season Needs a Theme Song

The daily dose of sunlight is obviously longer now than it was a month ago, but this fact notwithstanding, I’ve noticed in my travels that a lot of you are singing the blues of “seasonal affective disorder”, apparently to explain why you’re still the same pissy bitch you are at every other time of the year. Don’t despair. Spring is coming, complete with all the trimmings Mother Nature holds in store. Here’s a reminder, courtesy of film maker Christopher Hinton and the National Film Board of Canada.
“The Blackfly Song” was written in 1949 by Wade Hemsworth, commemorating his experiences working in the North Ontario woods. The film was made in 1991 and was nominated as Best Animated Short Film at the 1992 Academy Awards. Vocals are by Wade Hemsworth himself with arrangement and backup vocals by the McGarrigle Sisters, Anna and the late Kate. Soak it up and dream of springtime in Canada!
Hi,
Just checking out your sites and blogs. You gotta love that “Blackfly” film! Got a good laugh from it.
All the best,
Laurie
Thanks Laurie. The more laughs we get the better, in my opinion.
