While tonight’s Dark Sentiment may appear to be inspired by the current state of unpleasantness, history shows that everything in it has played out innumerable times in the past. What makes it so special this time is that the travails have never before played out in such a time of simultaneous connection and division, global interdependence, urbanization, and a single minded drive to apologize for and dismantle entire societies. Some of you will wonder why I haven’t mentioned stupidity as a factor, but I hold that where humans are concerned this has always been a constant for it has never required much of a search to find someone insistent on repeatedly pulling down the roof on their own head, and then blaming the ensuing headache on someone else.
Quaere Verum
By LFM
A time of horrors, hard and soft,
Their ending lies too far to see,
Now on a road from parts long known
To strange encampments, yet to be.
By misplaced trusts and should have knowns,
A Great Unwashed awash in lies
Yet cleaves to prophets fair and foul,
While Truth denies averted eyes.
Yet on a slightly diff’rent road
Tread seekers of another kind,
Who in their seeking find the Hunt
Sustains the Spirit, Heart, and Mind.
Unwounded? No, they suffer too,
On trails that lead beyond the noise.
Their joys are found much deeper down,
What hurts them, lesser men destroys.
For ignorance was never bliss,
And comes enwrapped with lies to pare.
To seek the Truth is why you’re here,
It’s why you’re breathing anywhere.
Good refresher to have read this again.
