Dark Sentiments Season 11 — Day 31: It’s Come Again to This
Posted By Randy on October 31, 2020
“It is a pity that there are no big creatures to prey on humanity. If there were enough dragons and rocs, perhaps mankind would turn its might against them. Unfortunately man is preyed upon by microbes, which are too small to be appreciated.” ~ T.H. White, The Book of Merlyn: The Unpublished Conclusion to The Once & Future King
A lovely Dark Sentiment to close out this eleventh season, n’est-ce pas? It remains to be seen if mankind can muster any real combined force of arms in the face of this year’s plague of microscopic dragons and rocs. Yea or nay, and looking on the bright side, most of us are here because in the face of such past joys as 536 AD and the Black Death, our ancestors ended up only mostly dead, which is of course the same as slightly alive.
Even as I mourn the paucity of the aforesaid ravenous “big creatures” as an alternative to current realities, it behooves me to remind you Goode Reader that this day of All Hallows’ Eve marks the anniversary of the day my singular fount of Polish Pulchritude blessed me with her hand, and all the wondrous rest of her, in marriage, thus being created she who I joyously name Mrs. LFM.
And so, as I prepare to unleash another and equally ravenous big creature upon this night of nights, uncaring of shenanigans and goings on beyond the ramparts, I thank you Goode Reader for your indulgence in seeing us through this eleventh season of Dark Sentiments.
Until next year …
