Merry Christmas Aulde Sotts one and all, Gods help us, every one!
I pray you will all find some peace today, and in that spirit present you with this selection of seasonal offerings to punctuate your day.
While it’s more of a last night kind of vibe, who cares? Here is the angelic Sarah Taylor with Bill Mumy’s classic I’ve Got Some Presents For Santa.
Next up, Postmodern Jukebox with this arrangement of Last Christmas, serving up still more evidence that a smile can change everything.
I find it necessary, on occasion, to remind people that when a person becomes of an age at which they may be described as “old”, the descriptor is not all encompassing. The term “old man” or “old woman”, if used at all, must be uttered with the knowledge that the juxtaposition of the two words does not fall under product labeling rules where the most copious ingredients are listed before those less important to the final flavour. With that in mind, here’s The Dan Band in the kind of venue my Esteemed Friend Steve Kaufman calls “a standby salon” performing I Wanna Rock You Hard This Christmas.
We’re such fans of The Killers hereabouts, the temptation to play two of their ditties back to back was too much to resist. First off, here’s Don’t Shoot Me Santa.
Next, Joel the Lump of Coal, featuring Jimmy Kimmel.
The 21st Century fascination with all things Zombie has spawned parallel genres in which the zombie can stand in for any kind of incurable contagion, or any number of toxic and overprolific motherfuckers in need of a head taking, hopefully before they spawn but unlikely. Anyway, without further preamble, here’s Emmy the Great & Tim Wheeler with Zombie Christmas.
For our second to last selection we’re going to slip in something a little softer of heart, hopefully to make at least some of you cry. From the About a Boy soundtrack, here is Badly Drawn Boy with Donna And Blitzen.
Finally and at last, from the album Vincent LaGuardia Gambini Sings Just For You, is the silver toned Joe Pesci setting a covetously bad example as he ponders what might come to pass If It Doesn’t Snow This Christmas. Sing us out Joe, and to you and yours Goode Reader, all the best from the House of LFM.
