Worldly Wisdom Wednesday – Waste Not Your Labours

Training – Perfection – Practice – Training – Perfection ….
By LFM
“Practice makes perfect,” is what people say,
But few things are further from true.
It misses the fact that what’s perfect in me
Is quite different from perfect in you.
In fact, TRAINING’S the thing that will build up our skills,
And hone imperfections away.
As so the good Doctor will train many years
Determined to practice one day.
The striving for perfect is wasteful you see,
And dooms all your efforts to nought.
Training is done to perFECT what we do –
So it’s really PERFECTION that’s sought.
Yet perfection’s no place marked by X on a map,
Nor a thing that great labours may craft.
The striving and learning to’rd BETTER’S the point,
And to think any else would be daft.
So lest ye be tempted to veer from your path,
And lest ye be tempted astray,
Remember today’s about besting that one
Who was wearing your skin yesterday.
Excellent, and guess where this is getting reposted to?
I have a quote in my playlist I thought expressed this sentiment very nicely… Until you address it. You never cease to amaze me Sir. This will be replacing the other one in my playlist.
Love you Pops!
