i love the way that you wrote this.
they way you try to defuse the situation. justify bothe sides. and i going to use one of my most hated word. But, re-reading the story, was the man in the wrong?
you and i were not there, as i said on the phone there only 3 recorded cases of wolf attacks. what was he doing how was he doing it? i have been caught in a remote part of the arctic between 2 packs of wolves. they howled, i howled and i walked away unscathed. they perchance more interested in each other, but was still respected and left to me own.

when ever i hear of and see people yap of wolf attacks i take them to task. first, did it happen? were you fishing for a trophy…a furry one and a grand story about your amazing holy crap heroism of how you to it down. second, wolves fear and or respect humans, even given that, it had to be really and very sick to attack. something else happened to trigger, i go back to trophy. i have walked by many true wolves, not coyotes or timber wolves as the call em out there, they just look you in the eye and they move on or you do. it is that simple. my time in the bush and the mountains, would make most cry for the city

i too, teach survival. and gun then, gun.

i know we just talked on the phone about this, and time allowing, i would honestly like to talk more if you can.
