Dark Sentiments – Day 22
Posted By Randy on October 22, 2010
A friend of mine just today referred to Russell Williams as “a flying monster”. I suppose so, but now he’s one monster that will never fly again, even though I personally wouldn’t mind taking him for one last ride far out over the north Atlantic. And here’s another dark sentiment for you – I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.
So today I was driving while listening to the daily call-in show on CBC. I tuned in while it was already in progress, but taking the comments I heard in context, I inferred that the topic was public reaction to the media coverage of the Russell Williams trial. Not public reaction to the facts of the trial – reaction to the way the media exposed the facts.
If you have spent the last few months staying warm by living six feet up a horse’s ass, you may not know who Russell Williams is and what he did, and if you are such a one, then go shower, and take the time to familiarize yourself with the facts of the case. The only good thing I can say about the evil, murderous, depraved, raping bastard is that he sealed his own doom by creating all the evidence required to prove his guilt, and then some. So now we will support his life until it comes to its natural conclusion, that is unless a future parole board made up of people who are probably in elementary or junior high school right now, soaking up the special thing that passes for education, decides that he deserves to go forth and sin no more. I feel compelled at this point to remind the Canadian government that a single 9 millimeter round is ever so much cheaper, and I happen to know our military has them in spades. After all, everybody dies some day, we’re just dickering over timing, and it’s not like he may someday save a little girl from drowning. Besides, prison is a bad place to live, but in his case, not bad enough.
Anyway, I digress. One caller to the CBC program I was listening to started out by warning the moderator that the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (I prefer Canadian Broadcorping Castration, but I’m being serious here) should be concerned that people may launch class action lawsuits against it for adverse effects on their health due to post traumatic stress disorder precipitated by watching and listening to its coverage of the Russell Williams trial. He suggested that the news should contain only positive information, and then he dropped the bomb. He stated that he worked as a “parenting instructor”. I will write here the words I spoke then – Sweet Jesus.
Well, here’s a positive bit of news – I’m POSITIVE that caller should not have anything to do with instructing anyone in parenting skills.
If there’s one thing we learn from history it’s that people don’t learn anything from history. I’ll close with a few choice bits of wisdom from some great minds who knew better than the “parenting instructor” previously referred to.
“The evil that is in the world almost always comes of ignorance, and good intentions may do as much harm as malevolence if they lack understanding.” ~ Albert Camus
“There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.” ~ Socrates
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” ~ Edmund Burke
“Life is neither a good nor an evil: it is a field for good and evil.” ~ Seneca
“The penalty good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.” ~ Plato
“Hear no evil, speak no evil – and you’ll never be invited to a party” ~ Oscar Wilde
And to whoever said “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions,” I am eternally grateful.

Randy,
Well done. ” It is a man’s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways. ” Buddha. Enjoyed your article. Thanks, Leroy.
Thank you Leroy. Glad you enjoyed the ride.
