“… Winter will bring challenges at the end of which the result will lie on a spectrum ranging from the greatest of joys to the gravest of sorrows, and in this it stands as no different from any other aspect of life but for bearing a greater degree of urgency and inexorable deadliness in the face of any vulnerability.
“And so it goes.” ~ A Long Winter’s Night — 2017 Edition: Day 1
Here in Nova Scotia, if you had a showdown scheduled for high noon today you could have met the Solstice at just a few seconds in. Snow covered ground, around freezing, with sun and a southeasterly bound herd of white cumulus made it just about perfect.
A good day to die. But then, if you did that you’d enjoy no more of me so welcome back Weary Traveller. Winter is here with all its myriad ways to do us in, and that’s even without factoring in assistance from pestilence.
So raise your glasses Goode Comrades and join me!
Winter’s here to do us in,
So thrive on, thrive on, for the win!
Though no vaccine will send it hence,
We’ll go not gentle! Let’s commence!
